Wed 25 Mar 2015 at 9:45 am to at 10:00 am

Parent event:

Presentation by Yu-Hung Hong on Land-Based Financing as part of the "Panel on China's Land Management System Reform: Issues, Progress and Prospect" which took place during the annual World Bank Conference on Land and Poverty held in Washington DC from March 23 to 27, 2015. Professor Hong, Director of the Samuel Tak Lee MIT Real Estate Entrepreneurship Laboratory, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, United States of America, spoke about the risks and opportunities of land-based financing of urban development in recent years in China. The current slow down of housing price increases has reduced the capacity of municipalities to raise income from urban land markets. Professor Hong presents recommendations on alternative methodologies for municipalities to finance the development of urban infrastructure that can provide more sustainable income from land in the longer term.
